The Natural World in the Modern Day

  • Lyric Theatre 275 E. Main Harbor Springs (map)

Presenters:  Thomas C. Bailey, Paul Doiron, Porter Fox
Moderator:  Wil Cwikiel

There is not enough time for us to even begin discussing how the natural world has given way to that of technology, or how the ways and practices of our ancestors have been diluted in the modern day. Fortunately, we have writers, thinkers and explorers like our three panelists to remind us that we have not yet lost our connection to this earth. It is tenuous and ever-changing and volatile and too often on our own terms, but it is something which still exists. Humans must continue to find ways to commune with the planet, and the planet, in turn, persistently provides for our needs. This cannot possibly endure forever though, and so we look to those who lives have been spent in service to the natural world to lend their insight and to provide hope.
