Score One for S.T.E.M

  • Harbor Springs History Museum 378 E. Main Street (map)

Presenters: Sarah R. Baughman, Carolyn Crimi,, Kate Hannigan, Mae Respicio
Moderator: Sara Grochowski

While many schools, teachers and parents are placing an increased emphasis on growing programs and interest in S.T.E.M., it’s the rare reader who reaches for a book filled with proofs and equations. Luckily, for those who possess that interest, they can turn to writers like our four panelists, who are able to work S.T.E.M. concepts into middle grade novels that manage to be both exciting and educational at once. Whether through the magical world of robotics, the heroic history of code breaking, the environmental investigation into a mythical creature, or the building of a tiny home and the family within its walls; these stories give voice to characters both super-smart and completely relatable.
