Writing History Across Genres

  • Lyric Theater 275 E. Main Street Harbor Springs (map)

Presenters: Terry Gamble, Jim Ottaviani, Andromeda Romano-Lax, Steve Sheinkin
Moderator: Cyndi Kramer

In recent years, the publishing industry has seen a boom in the myriad ways it is able to deliver history to readers. Gone are the days of dry and erudite tomes from tweedy academics, we now live in the era of history presented as fiction, narrative nonfiction and graphic works. These panelists draw inspiration from vastly differing styles and genres to relay four remarkable histories: a fictional retelling of the author’s family’s emigration to America, an illustrated biography of one of the greatest thinkers of our time, a science fiction novel that tackles a dark past and an even darker future, and a true story of one of the most fascinating moments in American history (of which you’ve never heard).
