Get moderately drunk and publish your own obituary. Marry the Russian girl and run for your life. Invite everyone to your castle and get yourself murdered. Some days just don’t go your way. Boy, is that an understatement for our protagonists! Big mistakes do, however, make for some pretty terrific novels. Writers and characters are forced to problem-solve, take risks, question everything they believe is true, and reveal their vulnerabilities.
