If any literary form were to be the kissing cousin of song, it is inarguably poetry. The distinctive lyrical style, the repetition of sound and rhythm, and even the emotional intensity are as commonplace to poets as they are to songwriters. It is then a natural progression from written verse to performance. Relying on gesture, movement, and voice—even incorporating the improvised elements of slam poetry—our presenters possess an energy in their delivery that flows from the reader directly to the core of the audience. Q&A and signing to follow both readings.
