In Kazim’s latest collection, a signature lack of punctuation and tension in the form provides an ideal vehicle for subjects of grief, loss, migration, and morality. The conversational experiment that unfolds in Shara’s collection allows the reader space for contemplation just as the poet herself ponders works of contemporary art. Though initially disparate, both works rely on concepts of the body and interior visualization. They pay homage to personal and collective histories and, as all great verse does, invite more questions for those with the patience to seek the answers. Q&A and signing to follow both readings.
